Visby part 2
Breaking news: I’ll start working on Wednesday! It’s a small (but very well-established) translations agency specialized in technical translation and manuals, and my task will be to coordinate translations, meaning that I’ll reply to customers by sending offers, I’ll keep contact with translators all over the world (they work with hundreds of translators all over the world, from Azerbaijan to France) and see to it that they keep deadlines, and I’ll also be verifying the quality of their translations, as well as I can in each language. They have many big French clients, so I’ll have the opportunity to use my French skills in my every day work. That’s extremely important to me, I really don’t want to lose my French, so it’s quite perfect – I haven’t found another job here yet where French would be needed.
Talking about French, I was also today at Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan that organizes courses for grown-ups to talk about French courses for next Spring. I’ll propose two different courses, French for beginners and a more advanced conversational class for those who want to train their vocabulary and further their expression in French. The courses will be added to their program, but each course needs 3-5 interested attendees otherwise they won’t organize it, so I really, really hope there will be people attending! It would be super fun – and I’d make a little extra money, because the teachers do get paid. It’ll start beginning of February, so fingers crossed for this one!
After all of these exiting news, I’d like to present the second part of our pictures taken during our trip in Visby on the island of Gotland. The weather was a bit gray during the whole weekend, but it didn’t really matter – Visby’s such a gorgeous little town. Probably the prettiest town I’ve ever visited in Sweden or Finland, it’s surrounded by an almost integrally preserved city wall and there are hundreds of medieval houses. We stayed on the top of a hill, just behind the medieval cathedral, which rang it’s bells every hours – also during the night. We woke up both mornings at 8 am when the bell tower not only rang, but played this cute melody, a real glockenspiel! The skyline is dominated by ruins of big, medieval churches, which make the view from the hill where we lived absolutely magnificent: in every direction you see the red roofs of the small houses and the silhouettes of the ruined churches against the sea and the sky. The whole town inside of the city wall is also full of small shops and nice-looking restaurants and cozy cafés. I really recommend visiting Visby and we’re definitely going back there during the summer!
I still have a lot of pictures, so I’ll be back tomorrow with some more…

I hope you all have a great week!
